Hardware Used: Optical sensor mat
Hardware Location: Beneath hitting zone
Measurements Taken: Ball speed, club speed, horizontal
launch angle, club path and club angle
Calculations Made: Carry, distance, vertical launch angle, side spin, back spin and ball spin axis
Using an optical sensor mat from beneath the hitting zone, gives average measurements of the club and the ball performance; sent uninterrupted to the computer, for the software’s ball flight. Beneath hitting zone hardware does get damaged, as the components are subjected to continual pounding. The measurement zone is 12” x 15” or 0.3m x 0.38m, which is a very small detection area ensuring poor accuracy.
